Church’s life

  • 39 % of the respondants admit to be linked to the catholic church (resident population above 15 years).
  • 55 % of the people linked to the catholic worship take part on a regular or irregular basis to the religious service.

Staff

Administrative and pastoral tasks: 270 employees (243 minister of religion and 27 archdiocese’s employees; 98 clergymen and 172 laypeople); 41 % women.

Committed Christians

The catholic church could not accomplish its local pastoral mission without the thousands of committed Christians whom motivation, experience and skills are irreplaceable:

• ± 1.500 members of the church’s fabriques, of which ± 16 % women),
• hundreds of members of the pastoral boards,
• 120 groups of altar servers,
• 240 choirs and their 4.200 singers,
• 60 committed persons as volunteers in the specialized pastoral care for a total amount of 400 hours/week,
• the many Christians taking an active part in the catechism, in the liturgical and sacramental celebrations, in the feasts and solidarity actions, or helping at the parishes’ secretaries.

Training

Certified training

  • 29 persons are following the training for funeral pastoral.
  • 8 persons followed the basic training for specialized pastoral care.

Further training

  • Pastoral agents: 10 sessions with 417 participations.
  • Foreign pastoral agents: 12 sessions for 22 collaborators.
  • Religion teachers: 11 sessions and one annual conference with 120 participants.

Adult education

  • 3.498 persons have taken part to the activities offered by the “ErwuesseBildung” (art, culture, religion, spirituality); 807 persons have taken part in the media department training.
  • 229 couples have followed the training of the marriage preparation course offered in various languages; 36 couples have taken part in thematic workshops.

International Congress in Luxembourg

27 responsible coming from 14 European countries gathered around the topic of the prevention of sexual abuse in ecclesial context.
